About The Book
Agricultural subsidies have become the world-wide phenomenon and also a debatable issue in India. That’s why this issue is discussed in this book in detail. This book deals with the agricultural subsidies like fertilizers, irrigation and electricity during pre as well as post-liberalization period in India. Zone-wise (East, West, North, South, North-East) as well as the state-wise subsidies are discussed from 1980-81 to 2008-09. For analysing the growth and distribution pattern of agricultural subsidies, five zones i.e., south zone (includes Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep), west zone (includes Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Daman and Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli), east zone (Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal), north zone (Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi and Chandigarh) and north-east zone (Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Sikkim) are discussed. In the last section of book productivity and total agricultural subsidies are analysed.
