Author Profile

Dr. Suneeta Singh is presently serving as Associate Professor and Head at the Department of Horticulture, School of Agricultural Sciences, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. She is associated with teaching and research in the courses pertaining to horticulture for the last 14 years. She did her B.Sc.(Ag.) from, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, U.P.; M.Sc.(Ag.) Horticulture and Ph.D. in Horticulture from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. The author was recipient of ICAR-JRF Fellowship in M.Sc. She also qualified ICAR-NET thrice. Dr Singh started her professional career as SRF in Department of Vegetable Science, G.B.P.U.A.&T., Pantnagar. She also worked as Research Associate in VPKAS, ICAR, Almora, Uttarakhand. She has published 2 Books, 27 Book chapters, 46 Popular articles and more than 55 Research papers. In recognition of her services to the scientific journal, the author was selected as Chief Editor, editorial board member, review board member and reviewer of several National and International journals.

About The Book

Through their high mineral and vitamin content and aesthetic appeal, the three main divisions of horticulture viz. Pomology, Olericulture and Floriculture, which help people not only diversify their diets and increase their nutritional security, but also by providing income, jobs, and economic security. Pomology is the study of a variety of aspects of fruit cultivation; Olericulture is the study of vegetable cultivation whereas floriculture is the study of all things related to ornamental plants. These horticultural crops must be produced and their growth depends on basic skills with gardening tools, nursery preparation, propagation, training and pruning etc. This useful handbook for undergraduate students will cover the practical components containing latest information of topics such as greenhouse, hydroponics and vertical gardening.
