Ramasamy Santhanam, Ph.D. is the former Dean of the Fisheries College and Research Institute, (presently Tamil Nadu Dr. J .Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, India). He has served as a fisheries expert for various Government and nongovernment organizations in India and abroad. Dr. Santhanam has so far published 34 books on various aspects of Fisheries Sciences and Marine Biology; and his 2 books have been ranked as " Best Marine Biology Books of All Time" by the World Book Authority ". On invitation, Dr. Santhanam participated and presented research papers and chaired sessions in the International Conferences held at Canada, Panama, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Japan, South Korea, and Australia. He was a member of the American Fisheries Society, United States; World Aquaculture Society, United States; Global Fisheries Ecosystem Management Network, United States; and the IUCN's Commission on Ecosystem Management, Switzerland.
