About The Book

"Grassroot Innovations in Fisheries and Aquaculture" highlights community-driven, cost-effective solutions that enhance the productivity and sustainability of fisheries and aquaculture. The book presents a variety of innovative techniques, such as bamboo-based aeration, low-cost water purification, and fish preservation methods, all developed by local communities and small-scale fishers. These solutions are environmentally friendly, practical, and easily adoptable, addressing various challenges in aquaculture, including fish feed preparation, hatchery management, disease control, and water quality. By focusing on grassroots innovations, the book emphasizes the importance of local knowledge and resourcefulness in sustainable aquaculture practices. The book also showcases regional case studies, such as integrating fish farming with paddy cultivation in Assam and using windmills for fish preservation, illustrating the adaptability and creativity of local aquaculturists in overcoming challenges. These examples demonstrate how local innovations can address issues like fish health, production efficiency, and environmental sustainability. Aimed at researchers, policymakers, students, and practitioners in aquaculture, fisheries, and sustainable development, the book offers valuable insights for those seeking low-cost, locally grounded solutions for aquaculture in resource-constrained environments.
