Dr. Parimelazhagan Thangaraj, is Associate Professor in <BR> the Department of Botany, School of Life Sciences, Bharathiar <BR> University, Coimbatore. His areas of specialization include <BR> Bioprospecting of medicinal plants. He has worked as Scientist <BR> in DRDO, Govt. of India. He has filed four patents and has more <BR> than 35 research publications to his credit. He is working on <BR> natural products for the past 10 years and guiding 8 Ph.D. <BR> scholars. His book ‘Herbal Perspective: Present and Future’ is an <BR> excellent reference book for those biologists and pharmacy <BR> students. He has four books to his credit on various aspects of medicinal plants and <BR> filed 4 patents. He has bagged National Science Day Medal 2005 from DRDO HQ, <BR> New Delhi and Laboratory Scientist of the Year award 2005 from DRDO.

About The Book

The object of the book is to highlight the relevance of traditional medicine and way towards ethnopharmocology, to share research achievements and innovations in herbal science, to evaluate and review opportunities for advancing herbal drug research in the region, to provide a platform to map an agenda for the development of phytomedicine, to address issues concerning conservation of medicinal plants. 28 articles based on the original research work by eminent academicians and scientists of the country on different areas of phytomedicine have been compiled.
